Jaipur Rugs has
always felt that one has to go beyond the boundaries to
create an impact on the community and this required a lot of
courage and initiative to face the tough road to improvise
the community level. Jaipur Rugs have been giving due
importance to the society and at the same time steps have
been taken to give back the society the credit for the
growth of the organization. For
thirty years, our founder Mr. Nand Kishore Chaudhary has
spent his Careers span feeling the pulse of many Indian
weavers. Jaipur Rugs Foundation is based on the concept of
3Es which encompasses producing employability for the
unemployed, providing employable opportunities for the
ambitious artisans and supporting them in every way to
graduate them as entrepreneurs.
Jaipur Rugs has been in the process to develop each artisan
a self independent entrepreneur who is able to deal with the
complexities of the trade and can get a fair return for his
work through its competing skills.
Self-Help Groups is an initiative to conquer these 3Es.
These groups so formed aim at making small artisans and
weavers financially strong and independent so that they can
sustain a regular livelihood.
A self-help group comprises of 10 to 15 artisans who are
willing to learn carpet weaving for a better standard of
living. These people are identified by us and are
facilitated or guided on support with the government.
Trainers from our end ensure that they are provided with all
facilities, say looms, raw materials, etc so that they
proceed with their weaving capabilities. We also assist
these groups in having direct access to the markets rather
than channelizing their earnings through a contractor.
Jaipur Rugs Company continuously is in the process to bring
people from the international arena to see and observe the
rural Indian conditions thereby getting into action and
bringing in resources for the improvement of the grassroots
level. People had shown interest to contribute in one or the
other way which has helped to create an impact on the life
of the people. Even a small gesture from the visitors is
warmly welcomed by the people at the grassroots level and
this in turn builds a relation of self respect for each
other.
