Social Responsibility
We are a large family at Jaipur Rugs and we believe in
staying united. With over 40000 artisans and weavers being
associated with us, we proudly undertake the responsibility
of their social and economic development. Graduating with
time, we have identified huge gaps in the carpet industry in
terms of inadequate availability of skilled manpower. Being one of
the category leaders, we realize that by filling these gaps
in the industry we will be not only uplifting the lives of
many artisans but also nourishing the industry with good
talent.
Jaipur Rugs Foundation is a ground breaking attempt to
identify rural artisans and weavers who have been exploited
by the contractors or are denied the enjoyment of normal
rights because of their low economic and social status. We
strive to work towards increasing the weavers or artisans
standard of living, eradicating social injustices, offering
the right payment to the weavers, women empowerment,
enhancing the skill of the workers through guided training,
and eliminating the middleman system so that the weavers are
not exploited in terms of payments and access to direct
markets.
Apart from this, Jaipur Rugs Foundation also engages in
educating these rural weavers about their rights and
government policies pertaining to health, sanitation and
insurance. The aim is to improvise their current status and
increase their standard of living
Jaipur Rugs Foundation works for the betterment of the
carpet industry keeping the following goals in mind:
■
Work towards eradicating social injustices
■
Increase the standard of living of the weavers
■
Promotion of new designs as per the international demand
so as to bring more work to the weavers thereby accelerating
income
and
prosperity
■
Working for the empowerment of women . Empowering women
for us implies influencing strongly not only on their
economic life
(income and earning potential) but also their personal life
(self-esteem and influence on family decisions). We give
them equal
priority on wage levels, participation in decision-making
and labor standards
■
Uplifment of the weavers' community by creation of
facilities which enhance the efficiency of the weavers
through carpet weaving
which
in turn lead to the economic growth of the industry
■
Enhancing the skill of the workers through training and
exposure
■
Non involvement of middlemen, making the weavers free from
exploitation and under payment
■
Promotion of research for new technology to bring the
Indian carpet weaving industry closer to the international
market
■
Helping the weavers in becoming productive and
contributing members of their communities
■
Providing prospects for the overall personality
development as health, education, including children's
education etc
■
Welfare schemes through microfinance which help the
artisans get motivated for becoming financially sound and
able to hold
assets like their own looms. |
