Gulabi Devi

Item Code : RUG1063841

Gulabi lives with her husband and children in a village called Itawa in Rajasthan. In the fifteen years she has been weaving Gulabi dreams of providing education to both her kids, something she was not entitled to as a child.
Gulabi Devi tells the story of her everyday life through this rug. Her signature, Diwali lights, sand of the Thar desert and the small huts surrounded by hills, speak of her existence. The other end of the rug features a bandhanwar (a decorative item hung on doors to welcome people), leheriya (a popular textile pattern found in Rajasthan) and shakarpara, (a popular village snack). She calls her rug Gulzar, which means flower garden.
To the owner of this rug
“This is a labor of love; it was a challenge for me. I send good luck wishes with this piece of art”
